Head of Sales – UK Hotel Management Company

The brief

This UK hotel management company was at a pivotal moment of growth, with the acquisition of new hotels and modernisation of their commercial function to allow them to scale up. They identified the need for a Head of Sales position to lead the sales element of the commercial team across the estate. With significant investment into the business and a commitment to implementing progressive and forward-thinking sales tools and systems, a candidate that could deliver this and take the group to the next level was sought.

The solution

With the hotel group evolving at a fast pace and new hotels coming online quickly, speed to market was imperative. As such a nimble contingency solution was agreed. The HBD Partners team brainstormed using their many years’ recruitment and industry knowledge and a target list of 23 individuals located throughout the south east were identified.

12 candidates were identified as the best fit for the role within 10 days of instruction the team were able to provide a shortlist of 6 candidate CVs to the client for review. The client requested to interview 4 candidates they felt were the strongest fit. From these interviews 2 candidates were selected for the second round and to meet the Managing Director.

The results

Both candidates at second round were interviewed in the same week and a preferred candidate was identified. The client was equally pleased with the backup candidate. The selected candidate was offered the role and accepted immediately with an offer letter being issued on the same day.
